The second is the Indian Super Cricket League, with an average salary of $5.58 million; the third in the MLB league, with an average salary of $4.512 million; the fourth in the Premier League, with an average salary of $3.935 million, about half that of the NBA; and the fifth in the NFL, with an average salary of $2912,000.
Since the new NBA broadcasting contract came into force in the 2016-17 season ($24 billion in 2009), players have risen in value. In the 2015-16 season, the average players average salary was only about 4.6 million, soaring to 6.4 million in one year, compared with 7.1 million last season.
The report also analyses the elite class of NBA players. Of the 439 players with guarantee contracts, 27 are from Kentucky University and 23 are from Duke University, far exceeding the famous basketball schools such as UCLA and Kansas.
However, the club with the highest average annual salary in the world is not the NBA, but Barcelona, the top Spanish club, with an average salary of $13.8 million and Real Madrid $10.6 million.
