According to data released by the National Ride Federation, sales of new energy passenger cars in 2018 reached 1.08 million, an increase of 88.5% over the same period last year.

However, while the sales of new energy vehicles are rising rapidly, according to the research and development of the reporter market of Securities Daily, it is found that in the minds of consumers, new energy passenger cars have not formed a broad and unified recognition. The main reason for consumers to buy cars is still the dual policy of financial subsidies and unlimited licenses.

At the same time, the low preservation rate of new energy automobiles, the prominent safety problems of third generation, and the high recall ratio have also become evidences of the rising false fire behind the rapid development of the industry. Data show that 135,700 new energy vehicles were recalled in the whole year of 2018, with a recall rate of 13.46%. The preservation rate of three-year-old used new energy vehicles is only 47.5%.

According to statistics from the State Administration of Market Supervision, in 2018, seven major vehicle companies, including BYD (Tengfeng), Lifan, Zhongtai (Yun100, Yun100S), Land Rover, Huachen BMW (530Le), Beiqi New Energy and Jianghuai Automobile, recalled new energy vehicles (including pure electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles). In addition, Tuoluole Automobile Sales (Beijing) Co., Ltd. also took the initiative to file with the State Administration of Market Supervision, recalling a total of 8905 imported Model? S series cars.

Specifically, Beiqi New Energy recalled 69,400 vehicles, Zhongtai recalled 31,300 vehicles, BYD recalled 10,100 vehicles, Tesla recalled 8,905 vehicles, Lifan recalled 6,431 vehicles, Jianghuai recalled 4,248 vehicles, Rover China recalled 3,406 vehicles, and Huachen BMW recalled 2001 vehicles.

According to this calculation, 135,700 new energy vehicles were recalled in the whole year of 2018, accounting for about 1% of the total vehicle recalls in the whole year. But if we compare the sales data of 1.08 million new energy vehicles in the same year, the recall ratio of new energy vehicles is as high as 13.46%.

In view of the specific reasons for the recall, the reporter noted that the recall failures of new energy vehicles last year mainly focused on three aspects: vehicle batteries, brake booster vacuum pumps and special transmission.

As for batteries, the lithium battery monolithic cell carried by the new energy vehicle will emit electricity while it has internal resistance. When its temperature exceeds its operating temperature range, it will affect its performance and life, and even cause thermal runaway, leading to fire. The recall of Jianghuai automobile is related to this.

In response, Ouyang Minggao, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and executive vice chairman of China Electric Vehicle 100 People Association, said that thermal runaway of batteries was the main cause of spontaneous combustion of electric vehicles, and the core of ensuring the safety of battery systems was to develop advanced battery management systems. At present, there are still some problems in the battery management system, such as inadequate precision, which need to increase research and development efforts.

According to the automobile preservation rate report issued by China Automobile Circulation Association, in December 2018, the average preservation rates of three-year-old imported models, joint-venture brand domestic models and self-owned brand domestic models were 63.5%, 63.9% and 57.4%, respectively. In contrast, considering the three-power system, subsidy policy and product renewal and other factors, the three-year old second-hand new energy vehicle preservation rate is only 47.5%.

In response, Luo Lei, deputy secretary-general of China Automobile Circulation Association, said that the new energy used car market is not yet large-scale, and most familiesnew energy vehicles have not yet reached the stage of renewal, which is difficult to support the price system.

A survey by journalists found that 65% of respondents said they were worried about the impact of battery decay on battery life, 22% of respondents believed that the devaluation rate was high, and about 10% of respondents were not confident about the follow-up quality assurance of batteries.

In fact, consumersworries are justified. Although as early as April 2015, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Science and Technology and other four ministries and commissions clearly stipulated that new energy automobile manufacturers should provide quality assurance period not less than 8 years or 120,000 kilometers, they did not specify the extent to which power batteries should be replaced and whether they should be replaced free of charge.

Since then, many new energy automobile companies have tried to buy back their new energy automobiles in order to further dispel consumersconfidence in buying automobiles. However, due to the high cost of power batteries in the whole vehicle, the cost of battery replacement will seriously affect the profits of enterprises, and the current power battery recycling is also lack of a clear profit model, so most of the car companies implement a hasty end.
