The article is abstracted as follows: A report on the trend of international students shows that there are more than 1 million 200 thousand international students holding academic study (F) and vocational learning (M) visas in the United States. According to the press release of the federal immigration and Customs Enforcement Bureau (ICE) website, the student and exchange Scholars Program (SEVP) released the report in April 30th. According to data extracted from student and exchange scholar information system (SEVIS) in March 5th, the number of international students enrolled in American schools decreased by 5% compared with March 2017. About 85% of the students who hold F and M visas participated in higher education degree courses, an increase of 8% compared with March 2017. The largest number of students who applied for doctoral degrees were the most numerous, while the most obvious ones were those who applied for associate degree. The number of doctorate courses increased by 4% and the associate degree decreased by 5%. There are 785 thousand and 435 students with F-1 visa who pursue bachelors and masters degrees, 58% of which are business, engineering and computer science. The number of international students from Asia is the largest, but the number of students in this region has decreased compared with 2017 this year. The number of students in China and India occupied nearly half of the international students, and the number of students in Saudi Arabia and South Korea dropped by 17% and 7.5% respectively, so the number of students in Asia fell overall. The growth of South American students was the biggest. The number of students in Brazil and Argentina increased by 13.1% and 6.7% respectively. As of March 5th, there were 8744 SEVP accreditation schools in the United States, 28 fewer than in March last year. In most schools, only less than 50 international students are enrolled. There are 38 accredited schools with over 5000 international students. The largest number of F-1 students enrolled in the following schools: New York University (16960), University of Southern California (14644), Northeastern University (14248), New York Columbia University (12785), and the University of Illinois (11474). California has the largest number of international students, followed by New York and Texas. The international students in these 3 states account for 35% of the total.
