At 15 oclock in December 19th, the Ministry of agriculture and the rural area received the report of the China animal disease prevention and control center. It was confirmed by the Chinese Center for animal health and epidemiology (National Center for foreign animal disease research) that there was an outbreak of African swine fever in a slaughterhouse in Xiangzhou District, Zhuhai City, Guangdong province. Up to now, 50 pigs were slaughtered in the slaughterhouse, 11 of them suffered from diseases and 11 died.*
Immediately after the outbreak, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Areas sent a supervisory team to the local area. The local government has launched the emergency response mechanism according to the requirements, and adopted measures such as blockade, culling, harmless treatment and disinfection. At the same time, all live pigs and their products are forbidden to be transferred out of the blockade area and pigs are forbidden to be transported into the blockade area. At present, the above measures have been implemented.
