Overseas Network, Dec. 18, according to Yonhap News Agency, 18, the DPRK will hold the 30th Wanjingtai Award International Marathon in Pyongyang on April 7, next year.

Yonhap news agency said that the North Korean Track and Field Association recently issued an English announcement on its official website to open the registration to foreigners. According to the announcement, there will be four events in next years contest, including the whole marathon, the half marathon, the 10-kilometer marathon and the 5-kilometer marathon, which will be processed by travel agencies at the cost of $150 (about 1034 RMB), $100, $70 and $50, respectively.

Yonhap said that North Korea held two marathons last year in April and October, and on April 8 this year in Pyongyang, 429 amateur athletes from around the world participated.

According to Xinhua News Agency, Sweden Sven Turing, who worked for international agencies in North Korea, won the first place in the mens horse in the marathon last October, taking 2 hours, 59 minutes and 20 seconds. He told reporters that this was his first time to compete in Pyongyang, along the way, the people of Pyongyang waved warmly to him and cheered him on.

It is understood that Pyongyang International Marathon has a long history. It held its first competition in 1981 and started to set up separate male and female events in 1984. Since accepting foreign amateur athletes to participate in the competition in 2014, a large number of foreign tourists have been attracted every year.
