The official APP of Weilai Automobile also showed that at noon on December 16, 2018, an ES8 car was driving in Haizhu District of Guangzhou when it accidentally hit the lamp post behind the roadbed and head-on. The driver and another passenger were not injured.

Weilai said that NIO staff had rushed to the scene as soon as possible to assist users in dealing with follow-up matters and arranging for vehicles to leave.

According to the computer records of the vehicle, the speed before the impact is between 20-34 km/h, and the preliminary judgment from the scene shows that the impact location is located in the middle of the front cabin, the lamp post is not bent and belongs to the direct impact of a rigid cylinder.
