Eleven Russian athletes were asked to return the 2014 Winter Olympics medals

International Olympic Committee officials said Thursday that 11 Russian athletes were required to return medals after the International Sports Arbitration Court ruled that they violated anti-doping regulations during the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics.

In December 2017, the IOC decided to ban the Russian delegation from participating in the Pingchang Winter Olympic Games. Russia refutes allegations of systematic doping, but acknowledges that there are some problems with doping among its athletes, which are currently being solved.

In February this year, the International Court of Sports Arbitration ruled on the appeals of 39 Russian athletes, supported the appeals of 28 of them, cancelled the penalties and restored their personal achievements at the Sochi Winter Olympics.
