Russia spent $150 million to build a new passenger plane with 400 passengers

Overseas Network, Dec. 16, according to Tass News Agency, official data from the Russian government show that Russias United Aviation Manufacturing Corporation (UAC) will spend more than 10 billion rubles (about 150.5 billion US dollars) in recent days to build the worlds first experimental Il-96-400M long-distance passenger aircraft. The plane is expected to accommodate 400 passengers.

The aircraft itself will cost 7.6 billion roubles and is scheduled to be completed by December 2019. The rest will be spent on the preparation of specific engineering drawings for electronic equipment and other systems for aircraft and aviation.

The aircraft will begin preliminary testing from November 2019 to January 2020. Other certification tests will be conducted between November 2019 and May 2020. A source at the aviation plant said that the first parts of the new aircraft were being assembled.
