Personnel shall earnestly protect the lawful and legitimate rights and interests of the parties concerned. Geng Shuang also pointed out that so far, the Canadian side and the United States have not made any clarification on the reasons for detention.
Huawei issued a statement: Meng Wanzhou was temporarily detained during transit in Canada
On December 6, Huawei confirmed that Meng Wanzhou was detained in Canada.
Huawei said in a statement: Recently, when CFO Ms. Meng Wangzhou was transferred to Canada, she was temporarily detained by the Canadian authorities on behalf of the United States Government. The United States is seeking the extradition of Ms. Meng Wangzhou and is facing unspecified charges in the East District of New York.
There is very little information available to Huawei about specific allegations, and Huawei is unaware of any misconduct by Ms. Meng. The company believes that the legal systems of Canada and the United States will eventually come to a fair conclusion. Huawei stresses that the company complies with all applicable laws and regulations in the country where it operates, including those applicable to the United Nations, the United States and the European Union. Meng is seeking bail after his arrest, and a bail hearing in Canada will be held on Friday, local time.
